Need a Gym?

If you made it a resolution to get fit for 2008 and don’t really know how to start? Well this is the beginning of a “New Era” for you. The first thing you need to do is see how many of your friends want you get fit, now the next thing is picking out a Gym and this is really tough just like work, home, if you are not happy with the place you work out then your workouts are not going to be good and its going to become more duty than just simply loosing a few pounds of your booty. Here is a quick review of places that are worth looking at and make your training grounds.

1. The SportsCenter at Chelsea Piers

This gym is by far the best gym in the country this facility will blow your mind. It has Rock Climbing, Beach Volleyball, Full-size Track, Full-size Boxing Ring, Pool, Coed Jacuzzi, and 3 basketball courts, all the newest weight training equipment. A full array of classes from Boot Camp to Pilates to Yoga, Swimming Classes, Running Classes, Boxing Classes There is so much going on everyday so its easy to just jump into a class or go run on the track. Or just simply do your own thing. Everything here is conveniently placed so that even when the gym is packed you don’t feel like you are waiting for a machine or dumbbell. This gym has over 3,000 members with a good portion of them being celebrities. Locker room includes shoeshine, steamer service for your wrinkled garments, bathrobes the showers are also very neat. After you work out is very important to have a good place to eat, the cafe at the Sportcenter is magnificent it has a full salad bar, along the day’s chef specialties all low-fat meals and organic of course, it also has a sushi bar with the freshest fish just like eating at your favorite high end sushi restaurant.

2. Equinox Fitness

This gym is one of the most impressive gym’s I’ve seen all the equipment is top of the line and they have exclusivity agreements with some of the top Equipment makers so they have some machines you will not see anywhere else. Also they cap out their membership at a certain number to make sure that the gym isn’t over crowded leaving you with access to cardio machines or weights with out weight at peak hours. The Locker room is the most impeccable locker room I have ever seen everything is so extremely clean at all times immaculate floors make walking bear foot a pleasure rather than a peeve.

3. Golds Gym

This gym is your best value for the money you pay, located in the heart of midtown its makes it very accessible to working professionals. The weights and the training machines are fairly new and fully operational and always clean the equipment is very well maintained. The classes are second to none from Spinning to Abstruction to Yoga the trainers are very knowledgeable and friendly. The juice bar is just like a Jamba Juice spot with waaaay better pricing. I just really like the atmosphere it makes it a great place to work out. This gym is my favorite gym in the Midtown Area Manhattan Area.

4. Reebok/Sports Club LA

This gym is pretty decent but if you aren’t into sports and networking its just simply not worth the price, but on the other hand it has a nice size pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, the weight machines are a bit out dated but they still work good, they have a nursery in house so you can leave your child there and go get your work out on for those of you who have children. The café is nothing-special salad bar, cold/hot sandwiches.

5. New York Sports Club

Overated that’s all I have to say!!

New York Sports Clubs are great gyms to join – especially in January, you can join NYSC for just $20.08, the joining fees are usually more! The clubs also offer a lot for members like nice equipment with televisions and the Rock the Scales Sweepstakes to help members lose weight by eating well, planned exercise routines and prizes!
